UNESCO World Heritage Sites Zacatecas - Historic Centre of Zacatecas

As a main centre of silver mining until the 20th century, the city of Zacatecas was a spot of exchange between cultures since it became a European colonial settlement in 1546. This trade can be seen in the architecture of the site such as the convents of San Juan de Dios or the Cathedral, containing mostly Baroque decorations but also certain indigenous ideas and techniques. Due to these historical and artistic facts, the historic centre of Zacatecas is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
