Hue, a city in central Vietnam, was once the imperial capital of Vietnam and holds a great deal of historical significance. The city rests along the gorgeous Perfume River and is the perfect spot for a serene and relaxing holiday.

One of the most popular things to do in Hue is visiting the tombs of the Emperors located along the Perfume River and dating back to the late 19th century. You can bike or walk to reach these tombs, but the best way to see them is to hire a boat and spend the whole day visiting each tomb and learning more about the emperor buried there.
You can also visit the Thien Mu pagoda that is perched on a bluff over the river where beautiful gold and silver Buddhist artwork and sculptures can be seen.
There are a couple of beaches in the city where you can spend the day sun tanning on the soft sands and sipping a cool drink.
Hue is very popular among backpackers because it is inexpensive to get around and has such a vibrant nightlife. Be sure to check out the bars and nightclubs and make a few friends while you’re out. You can also walk through the Night Market where you’ll find vendors selling everything from delicious treats to silver jewelry.
You can also easily take a bus to see the old merchant port at Hoi An and catch a glimpse of the Marble Mountains on your way.
Hue has a dry season and a wet season, with the dry summers being the more popular time among visitors. However, the city is beautiful and romantic during the rainy winters, as long as you have an umbrella and waterproof jacket.
The Hue Festival is a biennsial event taking place in April and is a great chance to see artists, performers, vendors, exhibitions, fairs, and other attractions. There are several other events throughout the year, so be sure to check out what is happening during your holiday in Hue.
