Located 4,900 feet above sea level, the city of Dalat sits in a scenic mountainous region where beautiful flowers thrive and French-style buildings abound. It is situated in the South Central Highlands of Vietnam and is a haven for golfers, nature lovers, and honeymooners. Hiking, sightseeing, and extreme sports are some of the best things to do in Dalat, a fun-filled city that will keep you busy during you entire vacation.
Lakes and waterfalls abound in the beautiful landscape of Dalat. You can visit Xuan Huong Lake in the middle of the city and go boating across its tranquil water. Prenn Falls and Pongour Falls are two of the best waterfalls in the city and are both fantastic especially during the rainy season.
You can also visit the Dalat Flower Park to see beautiful flowers, some of which cannot be seen elsewhere in Vietnam. Other flower-filled parks and gardens dot the city and you can spend a day strolling around or having picnic on the sprawling grounds.
There are a number of cafes, restaurants, bars, and pubs in the city center where you can have a great night. Take time to hang out with your friends or mingle with the locals at one of the nightlife venues in the city before your holiday ends.
From Dalat, there are buses that head to Hoi An and other neighboring cities. So if you want to get out of town, your best transportation is via bus.
Standing in stark contrast to the rest of Vietnam, Dalat features a temperate weather all year round instead of a hot and humid tropical climate. Nicknamed as the “city of eternal spring”, Dalat experiences average temperatures ranging from 14.37 to 23.18 °C (57.85 to 73.71 °F) throughout the year. The dry season runs from November through April while the rainy season covers the remaining months.
December to March is the city’s high tourist season, when the weather is comfortable for hiking and sightseeing. The rest of the year sees a lower volume of tourists and you can enjoy most of the attractions to yourself.
If you come to the city around the end of December or beginning of January, you can witness the vibrant and colorful Dalat Flower Festival.
