When to go to Vancouver

Vancouver ski vacations - Close to famous Whistler

The third largest city of Canada, Vancouver, is closely located to high mountains that provide the city with many small places with good skiing opportunities. Only two hours away you will find one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, Whistler, where most of the alpine skiing was held in the winter Olympics of 2010. Whistler consists out of a collection of areas between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. As the largest ski resort in North America, it offers you a total of 134 miles (216 km) of amazing ski slopes. Whistler Mountain has a drop height of 5 020 ft (1 530m) and Blackcomb Mountains drop height lands at 5 279 ft (1 609 m).

Queen Elizabeth Theatre

Located in downtown Vancouver, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre is the main venue for performance arts in general and opera in particular in Vancouver. The Vancouver Opera and Ballet BC is the second biggest opera company in all of Canada and they are situated in this amazing opera house, founded in 1959. If you are in town during Christmas time, we highly recommend that you take a short walk down W Georgia Street to the annual Christmas market to get a taste of the wonderful candied apples from one of the stands there.

Vancouver Marathons

The second largest international marathon event in Canada, BMO Vancouver Marathon, is an annual event that takes place the first Sunday of May every year. It is a very appreciated race and also a Boston qualifier. Another race in Vancouver is the annual scary Hallow’s Eve Trail Marathon. Challenge yourself by running on gruesome trails on Vancouver’s North Shore. There is a half- marathon and a 10k run available as well, they also hand out awards for best and worst costumes. This is the marathon for you if you feel like experiencing something out of the ordinary

There are many great places to go in Vancouver to experience great golf. Some of the best include the following courses: Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club offers two great championship courses, designed to be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club is located near the airport and is known for its open terrain and many lakes for you to navigate around. Last but not least we want to recommend the Morgan Creek Golf Course that sticks out with its amazing scenery, constantly taking your breath away with views of Mount Baker. There is no doubt that Vancouver is a great destination for golfers.

Water Parks in Vancouver - Splash around at Splashdown Park

In Vancouver you have three places to choose from when you want to cool down during the hot Canadian summer days. You can go to Splashdown Park where there is something for all ages, from the smaller children to the older thrill-seekers. Or why not check out one of the largest water parks in British Columbia, Cultus Lake Water Park. Last but not least, you can try the fun Granville Island Waterpark, for free! It is the largest free water park in North America.
