Savannah is the oldest city of Georgia and is reputed as one of the most hospitable cities in the USA. Because of this, the city is often considered one of the most favorite American cities among tourists. There are plenty of things to do in Savannah and places to visit like historic squares, churches, and beautiful houses throughout the city that will keep you busy during your visit.

Savannah Historic District

Savannah is famous for its huge historic district which is regarded as one of the largest historic districts in the United States. There are more than 20 squares in the Savannah Historic District that you can explore. Historic synagogues and churches also abound the city.

 

The City Market

The City Market is another tourist attraction in Savannah. It is a large district where you can find lots of entertainment, dining, and shopping options.

 

Tybee Island

If you want to go out of the city and visit a beach, you can head to Tybee Island which is just a few miles east of Savannah. For more water-related activities, you can check out the Savannah Yacht Club or other yacht rental companies in the city.

 

Yoga

There are several yoga centers throughout the city where you can relax after a full day of walking and sightseeing. After all, an ideal holiday or vacation consists of days when you can fully relax and forget about the world.

Savannah has a humid subtropical climate with long tropical summers and mild winters that rarely experience snow. In July, the city’s hottest month, the average temperatures range from 22.7 to 33.6 °C (72.8 to 92.4 °F). In the coldest month of January, the daily mean temperatures range from 3.7 to 15.8 °C (38.6 to 60.4 °F).

 

Festivals

There are different seasonal festivals held in Savannah. The Savannah Film Festival takes place in late October or early November. In spring, you can catch the Sidewalk Arts Festival and the Savannah Tour of Homes.

Savannah Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon

The marathon in Savannah is a part of the Rock ’n’ Roll series. Run through downtown Savannah and along the course you’ll find beautiful Spanish moss covered oaks, historic buildings and great live music. When you reach the finish you’ll get some southern bling for your effort.

GOLF

Golf in Savannah

There are a couple of great public courses you can go to in order to experience the relaxing nature and great design of golf in Savannah. Bacon Park Golf Course will give you a great 18 hole experience and is often called Georgia's true gem or a "Walk in the park", which alludes to that it is both quite easy and literally set in a park. If you want more of a challenge, head over to The Club at Savannah Harbor's 18 hole course or Hunter Golf Course, both located within 10 kilometers of the inner city.
