Parks and recreation

The Safari West

If you want to see more animals, you can head to the Safari West. This wildlife preserve houses over 400 animals, including mammals and birds.


Performing arts

You can also watch the amazing performances of the Santa Rosa Symphony Orchestra in Rohnert Park’s Green Music Center. Other impressive performing arts companies in the city include the Summer Repertory Theatre and the American Philharmonic Sonoma County.

The Luther Burbank Rose Parade and Festival, one of the main cultural highlights of Santa Rosa, is held every May annually. You can join and watch fluvial parades and other culminating activities during this festival.

Santa Rosa Marathon

The Santa Rosa Marathon is a Boston qualifier, you start in Juilliard Park and continue through the scenic Downtown. Then you pass Prince Memorial Greenway, West Sonoma County and De Loach Vineyards. Overall the course is fast and flat. If you’re not ready for a full marathon you can choose to run a half-marathon or a 5K run instead.

Golf in Santa Rosa

One of the best golf courses near Santa Rosa can be found at Bennett Valley Golf Club. The course opened to the anticipating public in 1969 and has since been a favorite among the locals. It is set in the beautiful nature on the base of Bennett Peak, lined with native oak, redwood and pine trees. No matter if you are there during the summer, spring or fall, this course will give you a breathtaking nature experience. Other great courses within 10 kilometers of Santa Rosa include Foxtail Golf Club and Oakmont Golf Club West.
