Because San Diego is a coastal area that faces the Pacific Ocean, it is an ideal holiday destination among people who love going to the beach.
All beaches are free to the public and miles upon miles of beaches can be explored in the city, most of which are perfect surfing spots.


San Diego Museum of Art

The San Diego Museum of Art is an art museum located in the Balgoa Park. With around 250 000 visitors every year it is one of the most popular tourist attraction in San Diego. Visiting the art museum one can see famous art pieces from Italy, Spain and South Asia and other parts of the world.


Traveling with kids

There are plenty of fun attractions and things to do in San Diego that both adults and kids can enjoy.


San Diego Zoo, Safari Park and Wild Animal Park

San Diego also features a wide range of zoos, safaris, and marine parks for tourists. San Diego Zoo Safari Park, previously named the Wild Animal Park, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city and features different animals from six continents. Various animal conservation facilities can also be found at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park or Wild Animal Park.

In Sea World, you can see different aquatic animals up close and even interact with them. A plethora of shows and displays can be seen and marveled at in Sea World.


When to go to San Diego

San Diego has a perfect and mild mediterranean climate so it is ideal to visit any time of the year. The sun is your constant companion when you visit the city, except in the months of May and June when the days are mostly cloudy. This weather phenomenon is commonly called the “May Grey” or “June Gloom” by the locals.
It rarely snows in the city and you can enjoy swimming and surfing even in winter. Winter surfing is a popular leisure activity among the residents of the city. However, if you want to catch big waves and perfect swells, the best time to surf in San Diego is from August to November.

San Diego Marathons

At the San Diego 50 Marathon you start at the San Pasqual Valley Trailhead, then you continue on a course with a mix of double track, single track, fire road and some, not much but still some, paved running. It is a scenic course that takes you through San Dieguito River Park and the Black Mountain Open Space Park. The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon is a part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series. You run through Balboa Park, Old Town and historic neighborhoods and throughout the course, there is live entertainment to keep you going until the finish line. A half- marathon and a 5k run is also available.

The Cat Cafe San Diego

This place is both a cat cafe as well as a cat adopting agency. Come on over and have a cup of coffee while you pet play and cuddle up with the cats running around in the café. Golf in San Diego

There are many courses in the surrounding area of San Diego. One of the most centrally located is Balboa Park Golf Course, an 18 hole course featuring a amazing views of the city, the ocean and the surrounding park and will give you a memorable round of golf. If you take the bridge over to North Island you can play on one the best courses in the entire United States, The Coronado Municipal Golf Course. It is a 27 hole golfing extravaganza featuring an amazing flat course with great views of the ocean, beaches and boats. The wind can make the course very difficult, so the weather has potential to make it a very varied course where you have to think before you shoot. There are also many more courses near San Diego, for example San Vicente Inn & Golf Club and Barona Creek Golf Club just to name a few.
