Honolulu is the state capital and the most populated city in the U.S. state of Hawaii, located on the island Oahu. Hawaii is known as the Paradise of the Pacific due to its beautiful location resting amidst clear blue waters. In the Hawaiian language, Honolulu means ”sheltered bay” or ”place of shelter”; alternatively, it means ”calm port”. When to go to Honolulu

Although Honolulu is in the United States, their climate is slightly different from the mainland. Visit in December if you want to take part in their marathon which is normally held during the second Sunday of that month. The country’s climate is hottest between June to October where the average temperature is at 23.3 degrees Celsius (74º F).

Consider visiting the city between April to May where the rates for accommodations are cheaper because it is during the low season for tourists. This also means you can enjoy all the fun things to do in Honolulu as well as on the rest of the island,  and not have to deal with big crowds.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Hawaii - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Containing two of the most active and accessible volcanoes in the world, the Mauna Loa and the Kilauea, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is in constant change due to the volcanic activity. The park contains a very diverse flora and five major ecosystems mainly depending on the height of the area. In addition, there are many archaeological remains from native villages such as temples and caves, and it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A visit to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is great if you are into hiking. The trails are beautiful, and hikes are organized at all times during the day and have a wide range of difficulty. The views are amazing especially at sunset and night, when you’ll get both the sight of the stars and the glowing lava.

Golf in Honolulu

Golfing is one of the most popular things to do in Honolulu and you’ll find several golf courses around the island Oahu.
