Flagstaff ski vacations - Discover cool off-the-radar skiing

In the mountain town Flagstaff, Arizona, you find off-the-radar ski resorts nearby. In Coconino National Forest only 20 minutes away you have one of the oldest ski resorts in the country, Arizona Snowbowl. With its five chairlifts and 32 runs it offers something for all degrees of difficulty. But the beginners also have 50 acres of terrain, especially made for learning apart from that. For those of you who snowboard Arizona Snowbowl is the perfect place to work on your freestyle skills. Elk Mountain Ski Resort is located 30 miles (48 km) away from Flagstaff. This is a small family resort where you have a tubing park and two lifts for skiing and snowboarding. A 3.5-hour drive away to the southeast and you will enter Sunrise Park Resort. Here you have 10 lifts and 65 runs you choose from, and the children have their own special ski area if they like. If you’re more of a cross- country skier you have 25 miles (40 km) of cross- country ski trails at your service when you go to The Flagstaff Nordic Center, located only 15 minutes away.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Flagstaff - Grand Canyon National Park

With 446 km of length, 29 km of width and reaching almost two km of depth in certain points, the Grand Canyon is the greatest gorge in the world and displays geological history of the past 2 billion years in its horizontal strata. The Gran Canyon is contained within the Grand Canyon National Park, which also manages it and takes care of its preservation. In addition, the park is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Flagstaff Marathon

Located in the northern part of Arizona, the Flagstaff Marathon, an annual marathon event in September every year, is a challenging race to take part in. The race is full of uphill climbs with an elevation level that is never completely flat. The highest points are at the 15k mark and the 36k marks, so be sure to save your energy for them! If you want to participate but the full marathon sounds a bit too much, there is also a half-marathon and a fun 10k run which every year attracts a lot of runners. Accept the challenge and conquer the mountain!
