When in Chicago, enjoy a rich insight of the city’s history by exploring their famous museums. The Museum of Science and Industry has many different pieces on display that relate to the current technology in transport and sociology.

If ancient artifacts excite you, come along to the Oriental Institute Museum to catch a glimpse of the city’s archaeological collection. Ancient artifacts originate from Persia, Mesopotamia, and Egypt.

If you are into sports there is always things to do in Chicago.
If you love running, take part in the annual Chicago Marathon in which people from all walks of life participate.

 

Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Theatre

Chicago has more art talents to offer than just in the museums. Catch a concert put on by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Symphony Center. Drop by the National Landmark Theatre for a comedy show, concert, or theatrical production.

 

Chicago Aquarium

If you brought your kids along or love sea creatures, visit the Shedd Aquarium. This large aquarium has been created to replicate the environment of the coral reefs in the Philippines and the Amazon River and has over 30,000 aquatic animals to look at.

If you love festivals, visit this popular city in the United States between April and May or September and October when the temperatures are warm.

Summer is a great time if you would like to go for a city tour, however, the price tag will be higher during this peak season.

If you are traveling on a budget, drop by in winter when prices are at their lowest. Be prepared as the temperature might dip to as low as 7 degrees below zero (19° Fahrenheit).

Chicago Opera House

Civic Opera House, Chicago

Built in 1929, the beautiful Civic Opera House is one of Chicago’s historic landmarks. The building, designed as a mixture of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, was fully restored in 1996 and it is the second-largest opera venue in North America. The Civic Opera House has been used as a venue for modern music artists, opera, musicals and theatre pieces. In addition, there are two restaurants and four private dining rooms that can be rented for public and private events. Look at what they have to offer during your visit!

MARATHON

The Chicago Marathon

The Chicago Marathon is one of six marathon majors in the world joining a fine crowd consisting of Berlin Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, New York City Marathon and Tokyo Marathon. The first Chicago Marathon was run in 1905 and has since been a great pride and tradition in Chicago. Every year the marathon is packed out with around 45.000 participants. A reason, apart from the great tradition, is that the course is flat and fast and thereby attract runners in pursuit of personal as well as world records. You will see most of downtown Chicago as well as the paths along Lake Michigan while the crowd cheer you on. Golf in Chicago

The best and most famous golf club in Chicago is located in Wheaton and is called Chicago Golf Club. It is the oldest golf club in the United States as it was built in 1894 and following that year in 1895 held the first U.S. Amateur Championship. The course is packed with lakes and bunkers, making it a challenging course even for professional players. Other great courses in the Chicago area include the Indian Boundary Golf Course, Ridgemoore Country Club, Chick Evans Golf Course and the beautiful lakeside South Shore Golf Course.
