The theatres in Liverpool provide excellent entertainment and you can celebrate a special event at the ballet or opera. For some musical entertainment, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Hall is famous for its selection of excellent musicians.



The city also has “hop on, hop off” bus tours where you can ride to different parts of Liverpool and explore on foot the places that particularly interest you.


When to go to Liverpool

Liverpool has cool summers and mild winters, with a significant amount of rainfall throughout the year. Bad weather never stops this city though, and you can simply duck into a cozy pub and grab a warm drink if there’s a bit of rain. During the summer, you can take part in the fantastic Comedy Festival which involves pub crawls and lots of laughter. UNESCO World Heritage Sites Liverpool – Maritime Mercantile City

Between the 18th and 20th centuries, Liverpool was an innovator in dock technology and port management and also a major commercial port between Europe and the New World and throughout the British Empire. For its commercial and historical importance, Liverpool is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic centre of Liverpool and its docklands contain the six areas forming this World Heritage site. In them, buildings like the Royal Liver Building, the Cunart Building or the Pier Head are found, which have witnessed the development of the city as a major trading centre.

Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

The Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon is held in the month of May and is part of a rock themed marathon series that has been enjoyed by thousands of people since they started in 1998. If you have ever run a marathon, you know how important it can be to feel motivated. The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series is known for having live rock bands performing along the routes and special themed water and nutrition stations along the way. The course will take you through many parts of the inner city of Liverpool, including the Festival Gardens at the side of the river, the docks of River Mersey and many of the parks and monuments that are spread out across the city. Since it is a Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, you will of course also experience some authentic British rock along the way! So leave the music player at home and experience this great marathon event!
