When to go to Colombo

Colombo has a tropical monsoon climate bordering on tropical rainforest climate. Temperatures are fairly moderate throughout the year, with the hottest summer months of March to April averaging on 31°C (88°F) at the maximum.The period between May to August and October to January, heavy rains and tropical storms are to be expected.

Colombo Marathon

Held in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, the Colombo Marathon is an annual event in October after being established in 2004. The route will take you from the city center of Colombo up north on the scenic sand banks on Pamunugama Road by the Negombo Lagoon until reaching the final point at the Beach Park in Negombo. Join this beautiful marathon race and perhaps meet a friendly fisherman among the hundreds of fishing boats and catamarans that are docked in Negombo.

Golf in Colombo

There is only one golf club near Colombo, The Royal Colombo Golf Club. It is the oldest golf club on all of Sri Lanka as it was established in 1880. It features an 18 hole woodland course where the Buffalo Grass fairways and Tifeagle greens are framed by trees. No matter if you are a beginner or professional you are welcome to play here as the club remains open to the public despite the exclusive feeling of such an old club.
