Outdoor activities

You can do a range of outdoor activities in Jeju Island because it is adorned with a fantastic natural landscape that can be explored in different ways. You can catch a magnificent sunrise on Seongsan Ilchubong ot Sunrise Peak, stroll along Hallim Park and Yeomiji Botanical Garden, explore the Manjanggul Lava-tube, and bask in the beaches around the island.

A host of man-made attractions also dot the island. Visit the Glass Castle, a theme park specializing in glass sculptures, or the very popular Jeju Teddy Bear Museum, a collector’s paradise showcasing teddy bears of different sizes, colors, and ages.

Other interesting museums in Jeju Island are the Jeju Folk Village Museum, Green Tea Museum, and Museum of African Art. There is also a museum dedicated to Korean drama and two theme parks exhibiting small-scale replicas of famous architectural wonders throughout the world.

When to go to Jeju

Jeju Island experiences hot, humid, and rainy summers followed by mild and relatively drier winters. The summer months of June through September features average temperatures ranging from 18.7 to 29.8 °C (65.7 to 85.6 °F) while the winter season experiences temperatures averaging at 3.2 to 12.8 °C (37.8 to 55 °F).



On the 15th day of the first lunar month, usually falling around February, the island celebrated the Jeongwol Daeboreum Fire Festival. There are fireworks displays and cultural shows held during the festival.

There are other festivals hosted in the island throughout the year. The spring season sees the Cherry Blossom Festival. In summer, there is a midsummer night beach festival. There is also a horse festival in autumn followed by a penguin swimming contest in winter so you can enjoy a lot of fun things to do in Jeju Island all around the year.

Jeju Island Marathon

The Jeju Island Marathon has been an annual event for over 20 years and keeps on attracting runners from all over the world. The small island south of South Korea is a perfect place for a scenic marathon. You will run alongside the beautiful northern coast of the island and pass the many beautiful beaches, including Woljeong Beach, Sehwa Beach and Hado Beach before reaching the finish line in Gujwa Life Sports Park. Near the track there are many other must see sights that you can visit after or before the race. Apart from the full marathon there are many shorter distances you can run as well, so there is something for you no matter your fitness level.
