UNESCO World Heritage Sites San Juan - La Fortaleza and San Juan National Historic Site in Puerto Rico

La Fortaleza, together with three other forts, is the defensive structure that was built in the Caribbean Sea to protect the city and Bay of San Juan between the 15th and 19th centuries. The fortification is built using European designs and techniques adapted to the conditions of the Caribbean port towns, a fact that has been considered a great illustration of the fusion of the two cultures. For this reason, La Fortaleza and San Juan National Historic Site are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
