OPERA

Rome Opera House

Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Rome Opera House), inaugurated in 1880 is the main venue for Opera in Rome. Since its founding, it has been renovated several times with remodelling and modernization done in 1958 in conjunction with the end of monarchy in Italy. If you are in Rome during the summer time however, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is not the place to be for the opera enthusiast. Instead, opera performances are being held in the outdoor theater at the Baths of Caracalla, ancient ruins of what used to be public baths between years AD 212 and 217. We highly recommend to attend one of these in the summer as it quite the scenic and unusual setting for an opera performance.
