Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, is the perfect holiday destination because of its natural beauty and metropolitan area. You can walk through beautiful dry riverbeds in the desert or shop at one of the many downtown malls. Most of all, Riyadh will give you a great view of the local culture and traditions which are upheld so strongly in this city.


Things to do in Riyadh

There’s plenty of attractions and other things to do in Riyadh to keep you busy during your visit. Don’t forget to walk through some of the towering wadis, or dry riverbeds, where you can look for fossils and rare rocks among the dusty bronze ground.


Museums and galleries

The city is vibrant and has plenty of attractions to offer, including the National Museum where you can learn more about Riyadh and its history. You can also walk through lovely art galleries.



While in Riyadh, you won’t be able to get enough of great food and great shopping opportunities.


Riyadh Zoo

If you are traveling with children, the Riyadh Zoo is another great place to spend the day looking at exotic animals including local camels and wonderful flora.


Travel to Dubai

You can also visit Dubai fairly easily from Riyadh and see some of the world-famous buildings and attractions there, such as indoor skiing and towering skyscrapers.


When to go to Riyadh

Riyadh has a desert climate with extremely hot and dry summers, so be sure to bring plenty of water if you visit during this time. Winter has cooler temperatures averaging around 15 °C (60 °F), making the season a more popular time to visit the city.

If you catch the football season during your vacation, try to see one of the incredible football games at the King Fahad Stadium where thousands of people come together to cheer on their favorite team.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Riyadh - At-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah

Situated within an oasis in the Arabian Peninsula, the At-Turaif District was the first capital of the Saudi Dynasty, founded in the 15th century. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, At-Turaif contains the remains of many palaces designed according to the Najdi architectural style, specific to this area.
