As one of the largest islands of the Azores archipelago in Portugal, Terceira Island is a major tourist hub in the region. Just off the coast of Terceira Island near Sao Miguel, an underwater pyramid was recently discovered by a local fisherman. If you want to dive underwater and check out this archeological find, you can arrange a tour with the local tourism office.
Terceira Island has a dry-summer subtropical climate that is heavily influenced by the Mediterranean. The short summer season covers the months of July through September and brings in average temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 ºC (68 to 78 ºF). The long winter season runs from November through April and has average temperatures that range from 12 to 17 ºC (53 to 62 ºF).
From April to September, there are several bullfighting events throughout the island. These events can be held in the form of traditional bullfights in the ring or the touradas a corda at the streets.
