Leaning Tower of Pisa

The most famous landmark in the city is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Although people are no longer allowed inside the tower due to its sharp angle, the tower is a very popular site and a must-see when visiting Pisa on holiday. It has eight stories and seven bells that play a different note on the musical scale. The Leaning Tower of Pisa located in the Cathedral Square where the Pisa Cathedral, the Campo Santo, the Baptistry, a hospital, and a few palaces can also be found.


Pisa Beaches & Beach Towns

For exploring things outside the city, you can ride a bus or train to the nearest beaches just a few kilometers from Pisa. Some of the most popular beach towns are Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia while the most recommended resorts are Forte dei Marmi, Versilia and Viareggio, and Marina di Pietrasanta.


From Pisa to Florence

If you want a little excursion, you can also take a bus or train from Pisa to Florence and other neighboring cities. Or make a day trip to Pisa when visiting Florence!


When to go to Pisa

Since Pisa is a coastal area, the climate in the city is fairly mild compared to the inland cities. Summers are mild and dry while winters are cool. It is perfect to spend your holiday in Pisa any time of the year.


Pisa Marathon

The Pisa Marathon and Half Marathon is typically held in December each year. It usually starts and ends in the spectacular Piazza dei Miracoli, more popularly known as Piazza del Duomo.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Pisa - Piazza del Duomo, Pisa

You have definitely heard of Pisa’s Leaning Tower in la Piazza del Duomo. However, the site has a lot more to offer. The Leaning Tower is just the campanile of the site containing the cathedral, the baptistery and the cemetery, and these other components’ beauty might surprise you even more than the tower’s. The site is a masterpiece of medieval architecture that has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1987. Make sure you take your time to enjoy the whole site, because seeing just the tower is missing a lot of the content of the Piazza del Duomo!

Pisa Marathon

The Pisa Marathon starts in the centre of Pisa, Miracles Square, and the finish is right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is a popular race that attracts lots of participants from outside Italy. Experience the historical monuments and buildings as you run past them!

There is one 18 hole course located near Pisa: Golf & Country Club Cosmopolitan. It is a parkland course with a lot of open spaces and it is located near the ocean which means that strong winds will do its best to make a mark on your round of golf.
