Orlando – Oh land of fun!

Orlando is a city in the U.S. state of Florida and a popular tourist destination. Located in Central Florida, it is the county seat of Orange County and the center of the Greater Orlando metropolitan area.You might know it for the great Disney World, but if you are not into that stuff, don’t worry, there’s a lot of other things to do in Orlando, that has nothing to do with Mickey Mouse.

Orlando Theme Parks

Orlando is surely one of the best holiday getaways in the world. The Orlando theme parks are a favorite pastime for people on holiday, especially for those who travel with kids.


Orlando Disney - Walt Disney world

Walt Disney world is a place to see all your childhood cartoon characters and also introduce them to your kids. Magic Kingdom attracts over 50 million visitors a year and is a vast park that contains many attractions such as “Cinderella’s Castle.”
There are also many restaurants and shops within the park’s famous Main Street. You do not have to be a kid to love “Wet N’ Wild”- one of the oldest and most popular water parks in the country where you can splash around all day without getting bored.


Orlando Universal Studios

Universal Studios allows you to immerse yourself in the action of your favourite movie in a 3D experience that is almost real. You literally ride the movie and can sometimes experience a live movie shoot if you are lucky.


Orlando Convention Center

Attending one of the many exhibits at the Orlando Convention Center, known as the Orange County Convention Center, is somethings that many tourists appreciate.


Orlando Grand Prix

The Orlando Grand Prix is an indoor go-cart racing complex that will make you feel like a real racing champion. The go-carts, which can reach speeds of up to 50 mph are models of the race cars you will find at the real Grand Prix.


When to go to Orlando

Orlando’s has a tropical climate. In April – October high temperatures are typically 32–36 °C (the lower to mid 90s °F), while low temperatures rarely fall below 21 °C (70 °F).
The attractions in this city are mostly family oriented and it is not a surprise that the school holidays are the busiest times to visit. The peak times include the period between Memorial Day and Labor holiday and from Thanksgiving until right after New Year.

Disney World Vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort Orlando

About 34 kilometer outside of Orlando, you will find a magical place of castles and pinnacles rise before you. The place is none other than the flagship of the great Disney empire, The Walt Disney World Resort Orlando. On Oktober 1st, 1971, the brand new Walt Disney World Resort open its gates to the public for the first time and it has been a crowd-pleaser ever since. In 2010, the park was the worlds most visited amusement park with an unbelievable number of 17 million visitors. In the park’s early days it consisted of ”only” one theme park, Magic Kingdom. However, since then the park has grown and today visitors can enjoy four magical worlds inside the park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and of course, the original Magic Kingdom, so make sure you have enough time to enjoy them all!

Orlando Marathons

Orlando has marathons for everybody. The Roundabout Marathon Relay is all about teams. You can run alone if you'd like, otherwise you enter as a 2 person team, a 4 person team or more than 4 person team. At the perfect run for families, Walt Disney World Marathon, you run through all four of Walt Disneys theme parks. You can also join this marathon if you sit in a wheelchair. And at the last, Orlando Marathon, all participants get a trophy for their achievement, no matter their time.

Golf in Orlando

As can be expected from a city in Florida, there is no shortage of golf in Orlando, and you don't have to travel far to reach the many courses. In downtown, you will find Dubsdread Golf Course and Winter Pines Golf Club, both 18 hole courses centered around the many lakes that Orlando is known for. A bit further to the east you will find Ventura Country Club, a semi-private country club where some facilities are for members only but where you can play on the beautiful course as a guest. There are over 50 golf clubs close to Orlando, so you can really pick and choose where you want to play!

Water Parks in Orlando - Disney water attractions!

Orlando is home to several fun and exciting water parks! If you are a big fan of Disney you should definitely give either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park a visit. At Aquatica by SeaWorld you can zip down an enclosed slide and real dolphins will swim alongside you at the same time. How cool? And if you are looking for some classic water park fun the place to go is Wet ‘n’ Wild, they are especially appreciated for their liked wave pool and lazy river.

Orlando is packed with theme parks! If watching movies is your thing a visit to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida or Hollywood Studios should be high up on the to do list. If LEGO on the other hand is more interesting you’ll be glad to hear that the largest LEGOLAND park in the world is nearby. Disney fans will love Disney’s Magic Kingdom and for those who find the underwater life exciting Discovery Cove and SeaWorld Orlando are good options.
