Windhoek is the capital of Namibia and also the country’s financial, economic, and cultural hub. The city of Windhoek is the perfect place to spend a few days if you want to relax and do as little as possible and is a haven for backpackers and tourists who are searching to unwind before heading off to the next big adventure. There are several shopping centers, golf clubs, and nightlife venues to entertain the wandering travelers while passing through.

Golf in Namibia has been on the rise as of late, and Windhoek has one great place for it. Windhoek Golf & Country Club is one of the most visited in all of Namibia, mainly because of its fantastic facilities.

When it comes to shopping in Windhoek, you won’t run out of options. You can visit Post Street Mall, Maerua Mall, and other smaller shopping centers and craft shops around the city.

 

Nightlife

Nightlife in the city is a variety of bars, clubs, and restaurants. You can visit a beer garden, a metal and rock bar, a romantic wine bar, or a blaring nightclub all in one night!

 

When to go to Windhoek

Windhoek is located in a semi-arid climate zone. The days are warm to hot, even in winter, while the nights are cool and sometimes chilly. The mean annual temperature of Windhoek is 19.47 °C (67.05 °F), which is considerably high for a city in such a high altitude. May to August is the winter season, with average temperatures ranging from −5 to 18 °C (23 to 64 °F).

 

If you visit the city sometime in late October or early November, you can catch the Jazz Festival which showcases some of the best jazz performers in Windhoek.
