If you want to visit a very unusual art museum, go to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. It is an outdoor art museum where you can see larger-than-life art exhibits. Its main highlight is the Spoonbridge and Cherry Sculpture.

There are a lot of sport related things to do in Minneapolis for the one looking to do some sporting activates during the vacation. Why not combine sports and leisure by playing golf or sport fishing. There are several golf clubs in Minneapolis where you can enjoy a round or two. Sport fishing facilities are also topnotch in the city because of the presence of the many lakes and creeks in and around Minneapolis.

When to go to Minneapolis

The city of Minneapolis features a humid continental climate and experiences extreme temperatures. Summers can be brutally hot and can sometimes even reach 35°C (95°F) while winters are cold and snowy, with average temperatures usually a little below freezing.

 

Marathons

If you are a running enthusiast, plan your holiday during the two most important marathon seasons in the city. The Minneapolis Marathon takes place in May or June annually while the Twin Cities Marathon is held every October.

 

Minnesota Fringe Festival

In August, you can join the Minnesota Fringe Festival which is considered one of the biggest non-juried performing arts festivals in the USA.

MARATHON

Minneapolis Marathon

The course of the Minneapolis Marathon will take you on a tour of the inner city of Minneapolis. It starts near the Wirth Lake, travels north past Crystal Lake towards the 6k mark at the Mississippi River, which you will run along for the rest of the race. The Minneapolis Marathon is an annual event in the month of May and features a main marathon, a half-marathon and a team relay challenge. This is your chance to experience the historic Mississippi River with your running shoes on!

Twin Cities Marathon

This event is annually held in October and features the two cities, Minneapolis and St Paul. The course features the many lakes that make the cities of Minneapolis and St Paul what they are. You will for example pass Lake Hiawatha, Lake Nokomis, Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun just to name a few and then of course there is the iconic Mississippi River. If a full marathon is too much there is also a half-marathon, a 10k and a 5k. If you want to see the best of two cities, this might be the marathon for you!
