Malaga, which means “salt,” is the capital of the Province of Malaga in Andalusia, Spain. It’s the birthplace of famous artist Pablo Picasso and a popular tourist destination.

Holiday goers will love the beaches, which are all around the Promenade of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The busiest ones are Malagueta and La Caleta. Malagueta is a manmade beach and is close to the center of the city, and La Caleta is right next to it. Other beaches are El Palo, Las Acacias (which is handicap accessible), Banos del Carmen, Playa San Andres, and San Julian Guadalmar.
The nightlife includes many clubs, mostly near Calle Larios, Calle Granada, Plaza de la Constitucion and Plaza de la Merced. Some of these are Vista Andalucia,El Cantor de Jazz, O’Neill’s Irish Pub, Liceo and the Weekend.
Shopping in Málaga includes international chain stores and shopping malls, as well as small local shops. You can find souvenirs, t-shirts, jewelry, ornaments, ceramics, perfume, leather goods, shoes, fashions and foods.
Golfers will love the choice of nine or 27 holes at El Canado, Malaga Golf Parador (which also is next to San Julian Guadalmar beach) and Guadalhorce Club de Golf.
Estadio La Rosaleda is the Malaga football stadium where you can see football, as it’s the home of Malaga CF, part of the Primera Division.
Malaga features a subtropical Mediterranean climate with warm winters that can reach 17 °C (62.6 °F) from December through February. Summer is April to November and temperatures can go to 25-30 °C. Regardless of when you visit the city you’ll find a lot of things to do in Malaga.
Come in January for the Epiphany celebrations, or in February and March for the Malaga Carnival to celebrate before Lent. April brings the La Semana Santa, which celebrates the “way of Christ.” Picasso month is in October, the Malaga Fair is in August and the Verdiales Festival, for dancing, is in December.
