Long Beach is maybe most known for the beaches and the relaxed way of life, but once a year in October, they show what they are made of in this scenic marathon. The race starts in near the pretty Rainbow Lagoon, does a loop down over the Quensway Bridge and then follows the coast until it travels north past the Colorado Lagoon and does a loop around the California State University Long Beach and heads back to where it started. The marathon features several different running distances so that everyone can compete, even if you have never participated in a race before. Apart from a lesser climb at the 17k mark, the elevation on the course is flat so there are great chances to set a new personal record.
