Leipzig Opera House

Oper Leipzig

Built in 1693, Oper Leipzig (at the time called Opernhaus am Brühl) is the third oldest active opera house in Europe after La Fenice and the Hamburg State Opera. The opera house we see today is the result of a complete reconstruction following the destruction of the old opera house in bombings during the Second World War. The reconstruction was made with love for the old building, keeping the same style and details as the opera house was known for. The building is home to the Oper Leipzig opera company, who regularly put on awe-inspiring opera performances for the German public as well as for tourists visiting the great city of Leipzig.
