Nairobi Safari and Nairobi National Park

The city of Nairobi is the capital of Kenya, but is also known as the Safari Capital of Africa. It is bordered by the Nairobi National Park, this Nairobi Safari park is a natural game reserve where you can find giraffes, lions, and black rhinos. This national park also features the Nairobi Safari Walk, a rare on-foot educational experience with African animals.

 

Nairobi National Museum

The Nairobi National Museum, the national museum of Kenya, is the largest museum in Nairobi. The artifacts that you can find here portray the country’s culture and heritage. The Nairobi National Museum also exhibits contemporary art and cultural items that are an important part of Kenya’s history.

 

Nairobi Nightlife

There is also an excellent Nairobi nightlife and there are many restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs. Nairobi Nightlife lets you party until the wee hours of the morning. The upmarket Westlands is one of the best nightlife spots in the city.

When visiting the city, you must do some Nairobi shopping. Nairobi offers many great shopping opportunities. For traditional Kenyan memorabilia there are many great markets to visit. When to visit Nairobi

The subtropical highlands climate of Nairobi allows for cool temperatures all year round. The warmest and sunniest months are from December to March, when the average temperatures stay in the mid-twenties. The rainiest months are March to April and November to December. June and July are considered the coolest months and temperatures can drop to 10°C (50°F) in the evenings.

Safari-related activities are best done during the city’s dry seasons of January to March and July to October. The dry seasons also allow for more pleasant sightseeing opportunities.

 

The Nairobi Marathon

The Nairobi Marathon is held in October each year. If you want to join this race, you can choose between the full marathon or half marathon categories.

MARATHON

Nairobi Marathon

The first edition of this marathon was held back in 2003 and has since been an annual tradition in the month of October where runners from all over the world participate. It was part of "The Greatest Race on Earth", a series of marathon events that included the Hong Kong Marathon, the Mumbai Marathon and the Singapore Marathon, which speaks to the quality of the race. The race will take you through the busy inner city of Nairobi and you can chose whether you want to take part in the challenging full marathon or the more casual 10k or the for fun family run. No matter if you are a fitness expert or a happy enthusiast, there will be something for you in this great marathon event!

GOLF

Golf in Nairobi

While you might not normally associate golf with central Africa, there are quite a few great courses in Nairobi. Royal Nairobi Golf Club is an 18 hole course located just 5 minutes from the city center of Nairobi. Muthaiga Golf Club is another 18 hole course centrally located, set in the Muthaiga district and framed by the surrounding forest. Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club has what many consider to be the best 18 hole course in Nairobi.
