The nuraghi are defensive structures whose design was only developed on the island of Sardinia. They consisted on conical structures made of stone and linked by massive walls enclosing the domestic buildings. Su Nuraxi is the best example of a nuraghe, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. All visits to Su Nuraxi di Barumini are guided, which makes them much more interesting.
