December to February is the high season which means that it is more expensive than some of the other months.
August is said to also have higher airfares due to school holidays. So if you want a less crowded vacation, choose another month.

The DISA Gran Canaria Marathon is an urban marathon through the city of Las Palmas. The track is almost entirely flat and for the most part, it takes you through the city's beautiful historic areas. The race takes place in January and all runners are welcome to join in this running fest, however, for the full marathon, as well as the half-marathon, there is an age limit of minimum 18 years.
