OPERA

Frankfurt Opera House

Opern- und Schauspielhaus Frankfurt

While Alte Oper may be the more historically interesting building, the home for opera today in Frankfurt is the modern Opern- und Schauspielhaus, located on Untermainanlage 11 near metro station Willy-Brandt-Platz. The old opera house, Alte Oper, is today mostly used as a concert hall with the occasional opera performance taking place there. They are located reasonably close to each other so if you are spending a weekend in Frankfurt, we recommend that you visit both!

MARATHON

Frankfurt Marathon

The Frankfurt Marathon is an annual marathon event taking place in October every year. The race will take you through the great city of Frankfurt, showing off the greatest sights including the famous opera house Alte Oper, the gigantic skyscraper Messeturm and the old headquarters of the city's militia, the Hauptwache just to name a few. You will see all of this and more as you run along the famous Main River. Since the marathon is taking place in the inner city, the elevation is little to none and the base of the track is asphalt. This makes for a fast paced run, perfect for breaking your record if you have run a marathon before!
