Winter has a higher percentage of precipitation, which may dampen some outdoor activities. However, winter allows for many sightseeing adventures through the museums and monuments that are available in the town. Summers can become quite warm, but you can cool off by taking breaks for cool refreshments or in one of the many nightlife hotspots across the city after sunset.

Marathon du Lac D'Annecy & Half-Marathon Annecy

Taking place in the beautiful lake-side city of Annecy, the Marathon du Lac D'Annecy is a marathon with one of the more scenic routes. Do keep in mind though that this is not the kind of marathon where you can walk all the way as there is a time limit of five hours, and if you are not fluent in French, you might have to rely on your ability to do gestures and follow signs as there is not a whole lot of information in English available. But if you are looking for a city where you can spend your vacation and at the same time participate in a marathon, this might just be one of the best places to go.

Annecy ski vacations - Awesome skiing in the French Alps

In Annecy you can find several good places for skiing in the French Alps. The four resorts La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand, Manigod and Saint Jean de Sixt have all come together to create Lake Annecy Ski Resorts. The first one, La Clusaz consist out of 5 mountain areas who offers lots of slopes, 83 to be exact, and over 82 miles (132 km). Here you can find something in all the degrees of difficulties, there are 7 black slopes, 23 red, 28 blue and 25 green. In Le Grand Bornand you have 56 miles (90km) of slopes and at about 6 890 ft (2100 m) you reach the highest peak of the mountain. The ski area in Manigod is linked to La Clusaz and here you find 26 slopes. One of them is black, 8 red, 14 blue and 3 green. Manigod is the perfect place for families. The beginners should head out to the friendly St Jean de Sixt. There you can choose out of 5 slopes to slide down from, 2 green, 2 blue and 1 red. Golf in Annecy

In the picturesque town of Annecy, there are two great golf courses. First up, to the south of the city on the east side of the beautiful Lac d'Annecy in the Haute Savoie area you will find Lake Annecy Golf Club. Here you can play a round of golf on the 18 holes while having the lake on one side and the foot of the mountain on the other in this amazing nature reserve. To the north of the city you will find Golf du Belvédère, a 9 hole course, perfect for you if you are looking for a short but sweet golfing experience.
