Fort Lauderdale is popular for its boats and beaches. This is where most of the nightlife and entertainment options are lined. Different water and beach activities are offered at The Strip, such as diving, swimming, and beach volleyball.

 

Boating

You can also go boating on the city canals and waterways or go cruising on the Atlantic Ocean. If you choose to go boating, you can try sports fishing or deep sea fishing.

 

Shopping

Shopping is also a great activity in Fort Lauderdale because you can choose from among several huge shopping malls and commercial centers in city. Aside from these huge malls, you can also explore a couple of flea markets, the Festival Flea Market and the Swap Shop.

When to go to Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale experiences a tropical rainforest climate that is characterized by wet and dry seasons, although the dry season is still technically rainy. May through October is city’s wet season, with average temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 °C (71 to 90 °F). The dry season runs from November through April, with temperatures averaging between 15 to 28 °C (59 to 82 °F).

 

Yacht festival

Another nickname given to Fort Lauderdale is the “Yachting Capital of the World” because of the city’s extensive and impressive selection of yachts, boats, and cruise liners. In October of every year, Fort Lauderdale hosts an international boat show that is regarded as the world’s largest boat show.

MARATHON

Fort Lauderdale Marathon

Located in the small city of Fort Lauderdale a couple of miles north of Miami, the Fort Lauderdale Marathon is a great marathon tradition for the runners looking for a scenic marathon in November. The route will take you from the Museum of Discovery & Science down towards the beach where the participants will run along the coast while spectators cheer you on from the beach. The route ends in South Beach Park where you can celebrate a job well done with a cold drink in the park. The event also features shorter distances, so there is a race for everyone, no matter your fitness level!

Golf in Fort Lauderdale

Many of the courses in Fort Lauderdale are restricted to members and their guests, but at Palm-Aire Country Club & Resort everyone is welcome, including traveling golfers. The best thing about it is that you can get more than a week's worth of golf here, as they boast five (!) 18 hole courses. Every course has its own identity, but the most important part for the club has always been that everyone should feel welcome to play on each of the courses, so you can vary the challenge level by choosing up to five different tee distances on every hole. Much praise has been said about Palm-Aire Country Club. You should definitely go see it for yourself!
