Havana is the capital city, province, major port, and leading commercial centre of Cuba. It was founded in 1515 by the Spanish. In more recent times, Havana is well known for its splendid cigars, nightlife, and vintage American cars.

Make sure you visit the downtown area called Habana Vieja or “Old Havana. Here you can enjoy delicious food, listen to the local music and see the beautiful and inspiring architecture of the past.
If you love beach life there is a lot of fun things to do in Havana. A trip to Havana’s white sandy beaches where you can play volleyball, swim or dance salsa to a live band is a must.
History buffs can visit the Museo de la Revolución, or Revolution Museum. The museum is housed in what used to be the presidential palace of many past Cuban presidents. The architecture of the building is a sight to see, but inside are many exhibits on Cuban history dedicated to the revolutionary war of the 1950s, as well as its War of Independence waged against Spain.
The Plaza Vieja is another historic site and was the site of bullfights, parties and executions.
Havana is located very close to the Tropic of Cancer which gives it a subtropical climate. Average temperatures range from 22 °C (72 °F) in January to 28 °C (82 °F) in August. Hurricanes occasionally strike the island of Cuba, but they ordinarily hit the south coast and damage in Havana has been less than elsewhere in the country. If you are fond of swimming and participating in water activities take a trip to Havana in summer, when the waters surrounding the area are above 20 degrees Celsius (70°F).
