Zadar features a borderline Mediterranean and humid subtropical climate. Summers in the city are warm and humid, with temperatures typically soaring above 30 °C (86 °F) during the day. Winters are mild and wet, with an average January temperature of 7.7 °C (46 °F). It rains in Zadar throughout the year but the months of September through November are the wettest months.
Summer is the peak tourist season in the city and the beaches can get very crowded in the months of June through August. Spring and autumn are also a great time to visit the city because daytime temperatures are a few degrees cooler than in summer and the sporadic rain keeps the city green and lush.
