Charlotte – the Queen City

Charlotte, North Carolina, is called the Queen City due to Charlotte of Melenburg-Strelitz who was the queen consort of Great Britain right before the city was founded. Charlotte is also one of the major financial centers in the U.S. So come and experience some southern hospitality and enjoy all the wonderful things to do in Charlotte while on vacation.

Zoo and Aquarium 

Charlotte doesn’t have a zoo, but there is an initiative to earmark 250 acres of land for the zoological foundation to build one. However, there is an aquarium nearby in Concord that opened in February 2014.

 

Sport

Charlotte has three major professional sports franchises, including the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League, the Charlotte Bobcats in the National Basketball League and for lacrosse lovers, there is the Charlotte Hounds. You can go see the Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium if you desire or see the Bobcats play at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

 

 

Charlotte Symphony

Music lovers on holiday should see the Charlotte Symphony. They play more than 100 performances every year and have an annual attendance of more than 200,000 people.

Charlotte, North Carolina, has a humid, subtropical climate, which means it has four seasons, with short cool winters that averages temperatures of about 4.5 °C (40.1 °F), and less than 60 days of below freezing weather. It has hot summer with the highest average temperatures in July at about 25.8 °C (78.5 °F).

 

Carolina Renaissance Festival

If you want to go to the Carolina Renaissance Festival, then come on the weekends in October and November. It’s one of the largest of its kind in the country.

If you love cars, come to Charlotte in April for the Auto Fair Fall Meet to see thousands of cars for sale, and over 9,000 vendors for car parts and restoration materials.

MARATHON

Charlotte Marathon

Held in November in the biggest city in North Carolina, the Charlotte Marathon is an annual marathon event that features a Boston Marathon Qualifier as well as many shorter distances for all kinds of running enthusiasts. The course starts and finishes at the Bank of America Stadium and will take you through most of Charlotte's busy inner city. As such, the track consists mostly of asphalt apart from a few park areas and the elevation is mostly flat, which makes for a fast race. GOLF

Golf in Charlotte

There are many great clubs in Charlotte, North Carolina. A little bit north of the city you will the Highland Creek Golf Club, an 18 hole championship golf course that has been rated as one of the most difficult courses in Charlotte. The undulating and winding fairways make their best to make sure you are precise with your shots. Another great course nearby is the Tradition Golf Club, featuring a scenic 18 hole golf course.
