When to go to Siem Reap

Siem Reap features a tropical wet and dry climate. The city is generally hot throughout the year, with average high temperatures never falling below 30 ºC (86 ºF) in any month.

Since Cambodia is a very popular traveling spot, you might want to book your holiday early. Bring along a raincoat if you are visiting between May to October which is the rainy season. Siem Reap is normally crowded with tourists in December as it is their peak holiday season. If you plan on running in or watching their charity marathon, plan your trip during this period.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Siem Reap - Angkor

Angkor is a must visit if you are any close to it. Located 20 minutes to the north from central Siem Reap, Angkor is one of South-East Asia’s most important archaeological sites. The site contains the remains of the capitals of the Khmer Empire on a territory of 400 km2, including the most famous Temple of Angkor Wat, which you may have heard about, and the Bayon Temple. It is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1992 thanks to its artistic pieces and the conservation of its urban plans and hydraulic structures. You will need to spend quite a long time to enjoy Angkor at its fullest, so make sure you bring a lot of water with you as it can get pretty hot and if you are not very fond of walking, hire a tuk tuk or a car with a guide.
