Barcelo Raval – 4 Star Boutique Hotel in Barcelona

There are a couple of great design hotels in Spain, but in the heart of Barcelona you can find one of our absolute favourite hotels – one of Spain’s most vibrant and avant garde hotels, the luxury 4 star hotel Barcelo Raval Barcelona (Barceló Raval).

The hotel was opened in 2008  and is located in Raval, an area that historically has been notorious for high crime. However, the people behind Barceló Raval Barcelona had a vision of how the neighbourhood would transform and today Raval is one of the most up and coming areas in Barcelona. Today it is an artistic and cultural epicentre and Barceló has become the symbol of of this transformation.

Architecture and Design of Barcelo Raval

The hotel is an elliptical structure with a stainless steel skin. The design team from CMV Architects (Andreu Crespi, Helena Montes y Pep Vich) created the facade as a thin veil – from the space behind this veil you can face the city in complete privacy.

Even if the building is beautiful from the outside, what really makes this hotel unique is its fabulous interior design. The Barcelona-based interior Ordi Galí has created a space with a sexy, cosmopolitan atmosphere that has attracted many guests with a special interest in design.

The lobby, bar and restaurant on the first floor have a black and white base, pink lighting and details. Additionally it features Bisazza-covered walls and several pieces of design-furniture making it truly one of our favourite lobbies in the world!

The rooms, albeit with a slightly more subtle décor, have the same atmosphere. With sexy lights in pink and purple, an iPod docking station for you to put on some groovy beats and a view over the city, it’s tempting to not leave the room at all during your stay.

Bar, Restaurant and Roof Top Terrace

But do not fall for the temptation – instead, go down to the bar and order a champagne cocktail and then continue to one of the many good restaurants and bars located near the hotel. Or, stay in and have something to eat at B-Lounge, recommended by the Michelin Guide 2012.

When waking up the next day you can enjoy a coffee from your own Nespresso coffee maker before taking the elevator up to the roof top terrace with 360 °panoramic views and a pool to relax in.
