Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh and has recently experienced a surge of growth and development. Within the past few years, it has become a global city with high rise buildings, amusements parks, and 5-star hotels. This thriving city is the perfect place to spend a nonstop holiday seeing various attractions and engaging in different activities, so running out of things to do in Dhaka, will be the least of your worries.
There is always things to do in Dhaka and the city is easy to navigate on rickshaw, bicycle, taxi, or bus.
There are several war museums found in the city that tell the story of Bangladesh’s history, as well as old forts which can be visited and toured.
The Dhaka zoo is also a great spot to visit, with the colorful and exotic animals that reside here, like the Royal Bengal Tiger. You can also take a horse or elephant ride in the zoo.
Bazaars and markets can be found all over the city and you’ll be spoiled for choice of unique souvenirs to bring home.
The nightlife scene in the city is phenomenal and there are a wealth of nightclubs, bars, and other entertainment venues to have fun in. Most expat clubs are interlinked and you can meet other tourists and visitors at places such as the American Club, the Nordic Club, and the International Club.
The climate in Dhaka is hot, humid, and tropical. The monsoon season is from May to October. Although the city is beautiful year round, be sure to pack accordingly when you visit. The Bengali New Year is on April 14th and is a great time of celebration and festivities.
