When to go to Baltimore

The best time to visit Baltimore is between June to August, when the weather is warm and sunny and the average temperature is 29°C (84°F). It is also the peak travel season and there is a massive tourist crowd due to the different events that take place. The HonFest and Baltimore Pride Festival are both held in June while the event called Artscape takes place in July.


The winter season, with temperatures averaging at -1-7°C (30-45°F), is the city’s off peak period. During this time of the year, Baltimore is relatively quieter and the tourist crowds are thinner. December is a good time for you to join the Parade of Lighted Boats.

The Baltimore Running Festival, also known as the Marathon Run, takes place October when it is slightly chilly and there are lesser crowds. You can either join the race or watch from the sidelines.

Baltimore Marathon

The Baltimore Marathon is the main race in the Baltimore Running Festival that is held annually in October in Baltimore each year. Apart from the main event the Baltimore Running Festival also features a half-marathon, a 5k a team relay run and several different walk friendly distances making sure that everyone that wants to participate in the event has the possibility to. The main race starts in Camden Yards, runs uptown towards the Maryland Zoo and the Druid Hill Park towards the John Hopkins University. You will then run towards the harbor where you get a scenic view of the boats and piers. After a run around Lake Montebello, you are nearing the final stretch where there usually is a big crowd cheering you on and giving you inspiration to finish the race in style. Golf in Baltimore

There are many great golf courses to discover in the area surrounding Baltimore. Mount Pleasant Golf Course is an 18 hole course with a rather straightforward design but it can still be challenging if you play from the back tees. Another great course, Forest Park Golf Course, can be found in the north-western outskirts of town. It will challenge you not with length but with design as the elevated greens make for difficult shots. If you are up for a roadtrip you can go to Rocky Point Golf, an 18 hole course located on the tip of the peninsula south of Edgewood. It will reward you with a scenic experience, where the Gunpowder River is ever present.

Water Parks in Baltimore - Twisting Slides at Great Waves Water Park

A short car ride away from Baltimore you’ll find the famous Six Flags America and as a part of the theme park there is also a water park, Hurricane Harbor. This is a large water park that offers you all you would ever want out of a visit to a water park with its many different pools, water slides and other water attractions. The daredevils will love The Tornado, it is said to be Hurricane Harbors most terrifying ride. You’ll find another water park, Great Waves Water Park, about an hour away from the city. A great place to go with your family on a hot summer day to escape the heat and have fun at the same time. Don’t forget to try the park’s most known Twisting Slides while there!

Theme Parks in Baltimore - Never ending fun at Six Flags America

Baltimore is home to many theme parks! You’ll find the most known of them a short car ride southeast of the city and the name of it is Six Flags America.
