When to go to Darwin

In terms of the weather, the perfect time to visit Darwin is from May to September. During these months, the weather is almost always sunny and the average temperatures stay pretty constant at 31°C (89°F) during the day while evening temperatures are significantly cooler. October to November is the pre-monsoon season with high humidity and high chances of rain. The wet season covers the months of December through March, with plenty of monsoon rains and tropical cyclones.

 

Darwin Festival

May to September is also a choice time to spend a holiday in Darwin if you are looking for festivals and events to attend. August sees the huge Darwin Festival, one of the biggest cultural attractions in the city. During the festival you’ll find a plethora of outdoor events, food expos and plenty of other fun things to do in Darwin.

 

Deckchair Cinema

During the dry season, you can experience watching a film under the stars at the Deckchair Cinema. Every night from April through November, Darwin Harbour is adorned with deck chairs and features a selection of popular Australian and foreign movies.
