Auckland – rated as one of the world’s most livable cities

Auckland is in the North Island part of New Zealand and is the largest urban area in the country. You might recognize it’s beautiful skyline with the magnificent Sky tower rising proudly over the city. The Sky Tower is actually New Zealand’s highest building and if you dare, you can go on a sky walk on the on the edge outside the top of the building, or even bungy jump from the top. Do you dare? If you are not an adrenaline junkie, don’t worry, you will still find a lot of fun things to do in Auckland, where you don’t have to put your life at stake.

When on vacation there is a lot of great things to do in Auckland for both adults and kids.

 

Auckland Art Gallery

If you love artwork, come to the Auckland Art Gallery with a collection of more than 15,000 different works of art, including modern, contemporary, historic paintings and sculptures from 1376 to now.

 

Aukland Zoo

Holiday goers who love animals should go to the Aukland Zoo, a 40 acre park with 750 animals of 20 species, as well as a zoological garden.

 

Auckland War Memorial Museum

History lovers can’t miss the Auckland War Memorial Museum with displays of the country’s natural and military history. Plus, the building is famous for its neoclassical style and location of sitting on top of a dormant volcano!

 

Shopping in Auckland

Shoppers will want to head to Queen Street, Ponsoby Rd, Karangahape Rd, Newmarket, or Parnell. If you prefer flea markets, go to Otara or Avondale. Shopping malls include Sylvia Park and Westfield Albany.

 

When to go to Auckland

Auckland features a temperate climate, which means it’s warm and humid in the summertime and mild and damp in the wintertime. Temperatures average 23.7 °C (74.7 °F) in February and 14.5 °C (58.1 °F) in July.

Come in April for the Very Vintage Day Out (VVDO), which offers entertainment, shopping, and all things vintage for every one of all ages to love.

 

Auckland Marathon

MARATHON

ASB Auckland Marathon

The annual marathon in Auckland takes place on the first of November in this iconic New Zealandic city. The race starts in Devonport and goes through the bay areas of the city. On the way you will pass the Auckland Harbour Bridge, see the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and the Queen's Wharf and finally reach the finish line in Victoria Park where you can congratulate yourself and your fellow marathon runners on a great feat achieved. The marathon event also features a half-marathon, a 12k traverse, a 5k Heart Foundation Challenge and a marathon for kids, so no matter if you are an experienced runner or a happy enthusiast, there will be something for you to participate in during the Auckland Marathon Event.

Golf in Auckland

There are a couple of great courses in the southern area about 10 minutes from Auckland. Remuera Golf Club features a great 18 hole course in a tranquil woodland setting. Maungakiekie Golf Club is another 18 hole course featuring wide greens and fairways, perfect if you are more a developing player than a professional. Theme Parks in Auckland - Ride Stratosfear at Rainbow's End

Rainbow’s End is the most popular amusement park in Auckland and also the largest one in all of New Zealand. In this place you can try their ride Stratosfear, there are only four of its kind in the whole world. When here you can’t miss the main attraction of the park, which is a Corkscrew Roller Coaster, the only one in New Zealand. It’s safe to say that a day at Rainbow’s End will most likely be a fun-filled and well-spent day!
