When to go to Arequipa

Arequipa’s climate and weather conditions are pretty consistent throughout the year, with an average high of around 21.8 °C (71.2 °F) and an average low of 6.9 °C (44.4 °F). December to March is the city’s wet season while the remainder of the year stays dry and almost rainless. Because of this, the city is an ideal holiday destination for most of the year and you can do a range of outdoor activities all year round.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Arequipa - Historical Centre of the City of Arequipa

The city of Arequipa is built in volcanic sillar rock and has suffered several major earthquakes that have affected its history. The city’s architecture is characterized by a fusion of influences from the Europeans and the natives, very well exemplified by its robust walls and courtyards decorated with Baroque style. This reflection of a historical combination of cultures is the reason why the historical centre of the city of Arequipa is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
