Addis Ababa is located at the subtropical highland climate zone. The rainy season is from February through September while the dry season is from October through January, although it still rains occasionally during these months.

Because Addis Ababa is located in the highlands, it doesn’t get too hot in the city. In fact, it is almost always chilly and windy, so best bring an extra layer of clothes with you when you go here for your holiday.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Addis Ababa - Tiya

The Soddo region in central Ethiopia is exceptional for its many archaeological sites of the megalithic period amounting to roughly 160. Tiya, among the most important ones, consists of 36 stelae, stone slabs erected as monuments, remaining from an ancient Ethiopian culture still being studied today. The stelae vary in sizes, ranging from 1 meter high to 5 meters high monuments, and are carved with decorations being deciphered in the present. In 1980, Tiya became part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
